Playtimes

Children are supervised at playtime and lunchtime by our playground supervisors. In their first few weeks, new pupils in primary 1 are looked after by their Primary 7 “buddies”.

You may wish to give your child some money for our healthy tuck shop which is run at playtime. The tuck shop sells a range of snacks for playtime such as toast and fruit.  Other children may want to bring a small snack or “play piece” from home.

Lunchtimes

Lunchtime is from 12.15 pm to 1.15 pm.  Please visit our Lunches page for full information.

Absences

If your child is ill and is unable to attend school, please telephone the school office on the first day of absence.  When your child returns to school, please send a note to confirm the reason for, and the length of the absence.  This informs us that you are aware of the absence.

If your child is to be absent from school for a medical appointment or a family holiday, consider if you can do this during the school holidays or before/after the school day.  If this is not possible, please inform the school, in writing, in advance. The absence should be kept to a minimum.  In following Dundee City Council’s policy and procedures, designed to protect and support children’s education, we may have to record certain absences as unauthorised.

If your child is absent and no contact is made by you, the school will send an automated text message asking you to telephone to explain the absence.  If an unexplained absence continues for three consecutive days, a referral will be made to the School Community Support Services who will arrange for an officer to visit you and your child at home.  These procedures are in place to ensure the safety and protection of all our children.

Emergency School Closures

In the event of an emergency closure every effort will be made to inform parents at least 24 hours before hand.   Where this is not possible, we shall try to contact all parents as soon as possible.  No child will be sent home without contact with either a parent or emergency contact.

Every effort will be made to ensure that every pupil has a safe place to go. Pupils who must remain in school will be supervised at all times until collected by an adult.

It is very important that the emergency contact form for your family is kept up to date to use in an emergency.  Please advise us immediately if your contact details change.
